We had a 2 hour kayak tour (there is also an option for a canoe if you don’t want to do the paddling yourself) with Markus who was warm knowledgeable, and his English was great. The environment is magical, completely otherworldly. We saw boa constrictors, lizards, an abundance of beautiful birds and the beady eyes of a small crocodile up close. The finale is the flamingos! A beautiful way to appreciate and incredible environment- highly recommended. Great value and real care for the environment evident.

Great nature-appreciation tour through the mangroves at dawn. Our guide was fantastic - great at animal spotting and knew bird names in three languages. We felt well-taken care of and would highly recommend - just remember to make a reservation.

I participated today with my family (wife and 4-years old son) in the offered tour through the mangrove. It was an amazing and rare experience going into the depths of this important ecosystem. Our guide made good explanations also about the social situation of the people living close to the mangrove. We discovered some rare birds and a sleeping python - super nice! I recommend this tour 100% more than the flamingo sightseeing directly behind the bridge. It’s worth to google the path to the guardians! Flamingos were included aswell.

Had a great canoe tour with the guide Marcos. Very knowledgeable and friendly, and the mangroves were so beautiful. We saw a lot of different species of birds, a raccoon in a tree, a possum, crabs, small fish, and a crocodile! We took the seven am tour.

If you are in the Yucatan please make the effort to come see these guys and do their kayak or canoe tour! Honestly spectacular- the photos don’t do it justice. You can go to the port in Celestun where all the flamingo boats go from the night before (or contact where ever you’re staying to book in advanced - everyone knows everyone!) and just ask for kayaking tour (these guys are the only one in town). Amazing tour. Isaac was our guide. Very knowledgeable, super friendly and had excellent English. Don’t bother with the tours on the beach. If you want a seriously natural experience and to see tons of gorgeous birds, this is the way to go.

We highly recommend the Kayak Tour. We had a blast on our 2h tour with our Guide Marcos and on top of the beautiful nature of this ecosphere, we saw tons of wildlife which Marcos was very knowledgeable about. Marcos spotted all different kinds of herons, kingfishers, black hawks, vultures and even a horned owl. He gave us his binoculars so we could see everything up close - even though you wouldn’t have needed them because all kinds of animals got right in front of us. After we got back on land we saw flamingos and pelicans, too. 10/10 would recommend and was definitely worth the drive from Mérida!!
